i'm still in love with anything wedding related.
and to satisfy this obsession, I had an idea to draw each of the 10 disney princesses in a wedding dress thats historically accurate (or culturally) fuzed with the official gown that Disney created for them.
this was inspired by

After nearly 9 months since Aurora's piece, THE SERIES IS BACK!

Most of the historical aspects I got from Shoomlah. Ariel's time period is roughly late 1800s, i'd say 1880s-1890s. It's really hard to tell because the outfits found in the movie were all over the place in terms of design. It wasn't until i found this dress www.metmuseum.org/collections/… that it seemed close to Ariel's actual movie dress. Although the website does state 1850s, (and Shoomlah did point out that the 1850s dates are for the time period of the original owners, and the fact that after other research, this dress is from the 1890s) this dress shape did continue on through the early 1900s.
So for my version, i went with a fusion type look. i used Shoomlah's design as a generalization.
I'm keeping the Aurora style lineart and coloring just to keep it simple.
As for the dress itself, I tried to maintain the shape of the historic wedding dress. I also kept the aqua blue-green ribbons of Ariel's original dress but applying them to the veil and the applicades. I drew the patterns more in tune with Ariel's mermaid outfit fused with the textures of the historical dress.
